Mother and I
went to lunch after church and then drove to a seating area overlooking
the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge at the narrows separating the upper and lower
bay. It was a mild and breezy day, perfect for sailing. After we
were both very relaxed and ready for a nap we headed back to the apartment.
I was circling the block looking for parking. I started around a
corner and a kid on a bicycle cut the corner on the inside and shot right in
front of me. I slammed on my brakes and i heard a bang and felt a jolt
from the back. Looked in my mirror and saw a pizza delivery guy climbing
off the trunk and back onto his bike. I apologized and said the kid cut
in front of me...He looked at the kid riding on down the street and nodded knowingly that
it wasn't my fault. The reckless cyclist was about two thirds
down the street. I gunned it and caught up to him at the light. I
told him what he had done and that fortunately no one was badly hurt but that
it was dangerous and he needed to watch where he was going. I went
around the corner and found a parking spot fairly quickly. Of course my
blood was up and I couldn't nap until I calmed back down. That was my
view from the street today.
